So, here's it.
Legs up on a summer evening. I have a regular lemonade on one hand, juggling frissons in another, watch the sunlight catch your face, your lids they.. they slit, and your dark eyebrows arch. Lips part. Jittery laughs, jittery fingers, jittery everything. Your watch mirrors the clouds, dark and sombre. "It's time for me to get home". Stolen glances, awkward silences, conversations, stupid, smart, both. Phones ring. Rap to the radio, sing to Chicago, hum to the songs we don't know. Fight over Prop 8. Put in your mixtapes, shuffle the sings, ramble on about my favorites, sit my fingers on the volume tab, you won't let me change, I change anyway. You smile, I laugh. You laugh. The toll booth. Red, green, red, red, green. Curled lashes, blackened lids. Watch sunken faces behind tinted windows. Yellow lines on the road, foot on the brake pad, the girl's still humming to whatever's on the radio. 80's, 90's, over-enthusiastic DJs. Shadows wilt. Sun down, dusk, beauty on the horizon. Question marks. Girl says goodbye. And, boy, well, boy lights up a fag.
What a life that would be.
